China rare earth exports drop 16% in May

The latest figures from the General Administration of Customs of China showed that the Chinese exporters sold 3,640 tonnes of rare earths in May, down 15.9% from April.

It’s worth noting that China is the world's largest rare earth exporter.

Last week, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that the US administration set out an extensive strategy to reduce its reliance on rare earths exports from China after Beijing threatened to stop selling the strategically vital minerals.
